Away fans get police escort
AWAY football players and fans were given a police escort after tensions flared at Worcester City Football Club's match against Alfreton Town.
A total 15 police officers were called to St George's Lane at about 4.50pm following the 1-1 draw on Monday.
A police spokesman said: "The club was concerned due to heightened tensions between members of both sets of supporters, but when officers arrived it was all quiet inside the stadium.
"There were no incidents outside the ground, or elsewhere, but two coaches - one carrying the Alfreton Town team and the other a group of away fans - were escorted, without incident, by officers to Junction 6 of the M5 as a precautionary measure."
Worcester City Football Club's safety officer Tony Partridge said his team had to evict a couple of fans during the game for bad behaviour.
He said they were hanging around outside the ground so they called the police as a precautionary measure only.
"We thought it better to be safe than sorry," he said.

I don't think the City have enough fans for a good scrap these days.
I think the club called the police to boost the attendance figures.
