Firefighters remain in temporary home

FIREFIGHTERS are still working out of temporary accomodation following a power failure at Worcester's central fire station and might not be able to move back for another couple of days.

Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service said engineers are on site in Deansway trying to rectify the problem but it is taking a long time.

We previously reported how the problem occured about 2am on Saturday causing the service to put an emergeny contingency plan into operation.

Firefighters and their vehicles were moved to the Army's TA centre in Silver Street while fire control operators were moved to the secondary control centre in Droitwich.

Speaking to your Worcester News yesterday spokesman Sam Jones said: "We still think it will be another couple of days before we can move back into Worcester.

"We have got staff on site there trying to resolve the situation.

"We would just like to reassure the general public everything is working as normal and all emergency calls are being handled in the usual way."

This incident is the first time the fire service has had to put its contingency plan into operation for about 10 years.
