A POPULAR riverside restaurant in Worcester has bounced back from its flooding woes to become better than ever.

Browns has been awarded two AA rosettes since it reopened last month after a seven-month closure because of the floods last July.

The restaurant, in South Quay, has had one rosette for the past five years but, following a £350,000 refit and a new chef team, Browns was hailed as one of the best in Worcest-ershire by the AA's restaurant guide.

Browns is one of 602 restaurants in England to receive the prestigious two rosettes award for "offering high standards and consistency".

Head chef Ian Courage said: "People think that because we have been closed for seven months, the team has been on holiday, but this is far from the truth.

"The team has been working very hard and this award, so early on, is a real honour, and has given us a boost to push the boundaries even more."

Joint owner Richard Everton added: "We are of course delighted to rec-eive this award, it is a real honour. We are very proud of what the team has achieved over recent months creating the new menus, and the feedback from customers since we re-opened has been very encouraging."

Following damage caused by flooding from the river Severn last year, Browns has introduced a new mezzanine wine and cocktail bar and it also offers sharing dishes.

As well as Mr Courage, the new team includes executive chef Martin Lovell, second chef Peter McGregor and chef de partie Jack Ingram.

Other Worcestershire restaurants and hotels with two AA rosettes include the Glasshouse, Sidbury, Worcester; Vent-ure In, Ombersley; the Elms, Abberley, and the Cottage in the Wood, Malvern Wells.

Doesn't the fact that they have been given 2 AA rosettes give you an idea of what they are like!
