NURSERY children are among the first people to sign up to a new charity event to help bereaved families.

The Noah's Ark Trust is launching its Sharing And Caring Activity Week in June and Little Blossoms Nursery was the first in the county to join.

The week, which will run from Monday, June 9, until Sunday, June 15, will encourage people to share an event - such as decorating a cake - and raise funds for the trust.

Earlier this year your Worcester News launched the Towards a Brighter Future appeal to find the charity a new city base where it can expand its work with bereaved families.

Now it's hoped many more people will take up the Sharing And Caring Activity Week challenge.

Gabby Beddows, head of operations at the trust, said: "By sharing an activity they are going to help us raise the funds we need to provide a free service to bereaved children and young people in Herefordshire and Worcestershire." Along with nurseries, schools and colleges taking part, the charity is hoping that workplaces and individuals will take up the challenge by holding a sharing and caring day."

Sue Raymond, who is deputy manager of the nursery, said: "I've known about Noah's Ark Trust for some time now through their support for families and especially children through bereavement.

"I feel that bereavement is a subject that isn't talked about and it's important for people to be comfortable talking about death and loss."
